Internetworking With TCP/IP - Volume I; Principles, Protocols and Architecture
Douglas E. Comer
Prentice Hall 1991
pp. 547
[ computer science ]
An introduction to the internal workings of the Internet: everything from
ARP through routing protocols to specifications for mail headers. There is
a lot in this book, but it is very clearly written and doesn't assume any
prior knowledge of networking.
I would recommend this to any internet user who was interested in how the
the thing actually works. It's not light reading, but it avoids unnecessary
detail and sticks to the essentials, with summaries of key points and lots
of diagrams.
